A Brief History of Lubinski Family Travel
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
Wait, what? No, this story definitely takes place in the not-so-distant past in this galaxy. I mean, I guess you could technically buy a round-trip ticket to outer space these days, but that’s still well within the confines of the Milky Way. Let’s try that again.
Steven of the house Lubinski, fourth of his name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the…
Huh? Has a nice ring to it, I’ll admit. We’re in the right galaxy this time (I think), albeit fictional. Still a pretty long time ago, though…

Oh, come on!!
Well, hello there! I hope you enjoyed that fun little introduction. I had fun writing it. I’m so glad you stumbled across the Lubinski Family Travel website. Welcome! I’m Steve Lubinski, the owner and founder of a family focused travel agency based in Pittsburgh, PA. (Real original name, right? It took me a while to come up with it.) While we (in the corporate sense) focus on family vacations and destinations, I like to apply the concept of “family” broadly when thinking about our purpose and who we serve. I want our clients to feel like they’re a part of our family, regardless of who they’re traveling with, so we strive to treat them as such (probably even better, if we’re being honest)! We cater to all different kinds of families as well: biological families, found families, church families, brothers from another mother, sisters from another mister…you get the idea.
Now, I can tell you all kinds of interesting stories about where I grew up, where I went to school (hail to Pitt!), what I like to do in my spare time, what my qualifications are (probably important) and all those things that you typically see in the “bio” section of a website such as this one. If those items do qualify as “interesting” to you, then please drop me a line and I’ll talk until you ask me to stop. In the meantime, for purposes of what you need to know about me as it pertains to Lubinski Family Travel, I’d like to highlight the following:
There’s an old Celtic idea concerning “thin places.” I wasn’t even sure of its origin until I looked it up recently, but it’s something that resonates with me. I love travel. I love to talk about travel. I love to learn about and plan travel. That’s partly because there are places on this planet that elevate my spirit in a special way. As the saying goes, “Heaven and earth are only three feet apart, but in thin places that distance is even smaller.” One of the goals of Lubinski Family Travel is to help people experience those places.
I subscribe to the idea that in order to be truly successful, a business has to have multiple “bottom lines” by which it measures itself. One is profitability, to be sure. A healthy business is by definition, one that generates income in excess of its expenses. The success of Lubinski Family Travel will be measured by this, but also just as importantly, by the impact that we have on our community and the people we interact with. We won’t prioritize one at the expense of another.
We’re going to take our work seriously. We’re going to cross our Ts and dot our Is and act with integrity, but we’re going to do it in service of becoming the best versions of ourselves and giving our clients the best experiences possible. We will shoot for perfection every time but recognize that this is a lifelong pursuit. We want the work that we do to be just as enriching and fulfilling as the vacations that we plan for our clients.
So, thanks for listening to my TED Talk! I hope that sharing my aspirations for what this business can be gives you an idea of what we’re (what I’m) all about at Lubinski Family Travel. I can’t wait to partner with you to plan the trip of a lifetime (and then another, and another).
Safe travels!
Steve
